Trademark Policy
Rugix is an open-source project developed by Silitics. We want the Rugix name and logo to be easy to use in the community: talk about Rugix, explain how you use it, write tutorials, publish examples, and build integrations. This policy is here to keep that easy while helping users tell official Rugix materials from community work.
Rugix is a registered European Union trademark of Silitics GmbH. Trademark rights are separate from the open-source licences that apply to Rugix code and documentation. Those licences let you use, copy, modify, and redistribute the covered materials under their terms. They do not let you use Rugix names or logos in a way that causes confusion about who created, maintains, endorses, or is affiliated with something.
What This Covers
This policy covers the names Rugix, Rugix Ctrl, Rugix Bakery, Rugix Admin, Rugix Bundler, the Rugix logo, and any names or logos that are confusingly similar to them.
Using the Rugix Name
You may use the Rugix names to truthfully refer to the Rugix project, its tools, compatibility with Rugix, or software built using Rugix. Please make it clear that your work is your own when someone might otherwise think it is official, endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Rugix or Silitics.
Community Use
You do not need permission to write tutorials, publish blog posts, make videos, give talks, run informal meetups, contribute code, discuss Rugix publicly, or accurately describe how your own software works with Rugix. We welcome that kind of community activity.
Good Uses
- Stating that your software is built with Rugix Bakery.
- Stating that your product integrates with Rugix Ctrl.
- Publishing guides, tutorials, blog posts, academic work, videos, or books about Rugix.
- Using the Rugix name in documentation, repository descriptions, or package metadata to describe compatibility.
- Running informal community discussions or meetups about Rugix, as long as they are clearly unofficial.
Names That Look Official
You may not use Rugix as part of the name of your own product, service, operating system, distribution, hosted offering, company, domain, event, repository, social media account, or project if the name could make people think it is official, endorsed, maintained, or approved by Rugix or Silitics.
In particular, avoid names where Rugix is the leading, dominant, or brand-like part of the name, or where the name follows the pattern "Rugix" plus a generic product, service, or technology category.

Forks and Modified Versions
You may fork, modify, and redistribute Rugix code under the applicable open-source licences. A fork, modified build, downstream distribution, appliance image, or hosted service must not be named in a way that suggests it is an official Rugix release or service.
Substantially modified versions must use a distinct name. You may describe the relationship factually, for example "based on Rugix" or "derived from Rugix", as long as your own name is more prominent and the description does not imply endorsement.
Logos
Please use the Rugix logo with care. Do not modify it, combine it with another logo, change its proportions, or use it as part of your own brand identity without written permission. When using the logo for factual reference, use the official artwork and make sure your own name or brand is more prominent.
When to Ask First
- Using Rugix marks as the leading, dominant, or brand-like part of your company, product, service, event, repository, account, or domain name.
- Using the Rugix logo in commercial marketing, merchandise, event branding, or product packaging.
- Calling a fork, modified distribution, hosted service, appliance, or operating system simply "Rugix" or "Rugix" followed by another product category.
- Using terms such as "official", "certified", "approved", "partner", or "enterprise" in a way that implies special status, endorsement, or a formal relationship with Rugix or Silitics.
Legal Notes
This policy is not intended to limit descriptive or referential uses that are allowed under applicable law. Silitics may object to uses that are misleading, confusing, harmful to the Rugix community, or inconsistent with this policy.
